Victoria Nuñez Fernandez

Victoria Nuñez Fernandez is a non-binary land and human rights defenders. Victoria is a member of the Lof Pillañ Mahuiza, mapuche community where they have been living for five years, on the banks of the Carreneleufe River, in the province of Chubut, Argentina. Victoria is also a member of the Pluriversidad Indígena en Puelmapu organisation, where they work in the defence of the environment, water and territory of the mapuche people in the Patagonia.

Human rights defenders have played a long-standing role in Argentina's pursuit of transitional justice, with Adolfo Pérez Esquivel receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 1980 for his work as a human rights defender promoting democracy and human rights in the context of dictatorial regimes in Latin America.
